Overview:
3D video has come a very, very long way from the carnival attraction of yesteryear. With director Alfonso Cuarón's sci-fi movie Gravity opening to strong reviews and impressive box office takings, it's clear 3D cinema is here to stay… as long as it's done with some degree of artistry and doesn't end up like that Green Lantern clusterfuck. But what of 3D pornography, can it took evolve past being considered a hokey gimmick and give audiences something truly amazing and technologically groundbreaking to enjoy on a whole new virtually sexual plane? 3DX Star seems to think so, offering its members access to six exclusive websites hosting 3D porn in High Definition videos that promise to deliver "in your face" action. At $29.95 a month, 3DX Star isn't exactly cheap, but it sure isn't overly expensive either. What might end up costing a fortune, though, is equipping yourself for 3D playback, but there's detailed guides here to ensure whatever option you choose will bring an added dimension of illicit excitement to your laptop, desktop, or TV screen. And, hey, if you've got a pair of those red-cyan anaglyph glasses hanging around, you can use them too! Many 3D porn sites end up giving up the ghost for a number of reasons - lack of interest, lack of content, playback problems etc - so let's hope 3DX Star is strong enough to survive.

Pros:
You won't be seeing portly amateurs with acne problems fucking in the third dimension here, as 3DX Star's model roster includes many accomplished pornstar babes. Cons:
It may be a six-site network, but don't go expecting 3DX Star to unleash an enormous load of content anytime soon. With only 42 scenes currently available, there's really not a whole lot to see here. Hell, Killer Kurves only offers a single scene, which is very disappointing. Updates are supposed to arrive once every two weeks, but the webmasters can't even manage this modest schedule, instead adding scenes once-a-month.

When dealing with a network, even a small one such as this, a decent central navigation system is vitally important. Unfortunately, 3DX Star gives its members no choice but to browse each site individually if they want access to all scenes. The network homepage only lists the dozen most recent additions to the site; a 'View All' or 'View More' option is conspicuously absent.

Watch 3DX Star's scenes in 2D and you'll likely realize you've seen it all before. Not literally, of course - the content is exclusive, after all - but there's little to distinguish this hardcore porn from the hardcore porn peddled by any number of other 2D porn sites, dozens upon dozens of which offer similarly high quality videos and a much, much larger collection.

3D is notoriously difficult to nail from both a production and a viewing standpoint and simply doesn't jibe well with some users. Videos are not always effective in 3D and may leave viewers frustrated at the double-vision that often occurs and can render the scenes as garbled messes of graphic information.

Conclusion:
3DX Star seems to be trying to make a compelling case for membership: High Definition videos in multiple formats and both 2D and 3D versions starring some of porn's most salacious and compelling babes. Unfortunately, with more than a few substantial letdowns affecting members' satisfaction, this site seems more like the awkward beginning of something great instead of, quite simply, something great. Updates are supposed to arrive once every two weeks; not a great schedule to begin with, but when they arrive only once-a-month, disappointment sets in. Add to that the fact that only 42 scenes are currently online and spread unevenly over six websites, one of which holds one solitary scene, and you'll know you're unlikely to find complete satisfaction here. Without any photo content and network-wide navigation tools, members will undoubtedly tire of 3DX Star's situation very quickly. It's a shame, too, since the 3D videos (viewable in various formats, by various methods) can deliver some pretty incredible visions of carnality. But, quite frankly, they're more trouble than they're worth at this point.
